:Hi all
Just got a letter stating I will have to have a medical for my DLA renewal. I am sick with worry as I have mental issues and had a suicide attempt last year.

I even sent a letter from my gp in which he stated my suicidal thoughts increase during these renewals.

I really am very agitated at the moment. What can I do now ?

Hi P,

I am sorry to hear this ! :(

Is the DLA medical to be carried out by ATOS ?

Is it to be carried out in your home ?

I do not know who will be doing this as I am in NIreland. The letter is DLA AL 1C I believe it will be at home as it states an approved HCP will contact you shortly to arrange a visit.

Hi P,

I forgot that you were in NI !! :silly:

If it has been deemed that you need a home assessment in connection with your DLA, I am afraid that you have little choice other than to comply.

You can have someone else present for support, and they can take notes.

You could also covertly record the medical for your own future reference purposes.

You should be aware that if the HCP becomes aware that you are recording the medical that they can refuse to carry on and end the medical.

Have a look at :

DLA Medical Examination

I am thinking of withdrawing my renewal for care as my mobility is indefinate. I just cannot cope with all the stress I involved in this. I thought with me in the SG of ESA my worries were over for a while.

Is it possible to withdraw the application for care as the letter stated if I did not return the renewal the care would cease and the mobility would continue?

In principle yes! If you are confident, irrelevant of your Indefinite award and the letter, that you mobility problems are not subject to change and that therefore the DWP have no reason to re-assess your claim, then I can't see there being a problem.

You need to make the withdrawal in writing and I would certainly include a copy of the letter about your current mobility award, just to make sure that the circumstances are properly understood.
