ESA Support Group migration to Universal Credit: Questions

My sister has recently retired after working for the DWP processing claims for the last 30 years.

When calculating capital, any ESA you received within the last few weeks is disregarded. It only counts as "savings" once the NEXT lot of ESA goes in, so forget about it.

Again, the cold weather payment is disregarded, so forget about that too.

The only problem you might have, is they will now want bank statements going back maybe a year, instead of the usual 2 or 3 months..

Even if you DID go over the £6000, so what. It would simply be a small overpayment of a couple of quid.

You are worrying about nothing..

A word of warning though, the DWP know about all accounts registered at your address, so never try to be clever..

The LIMIT is £16,000. If you go over the £6000 [even by a penny], you will just have a couple of pounds taken back.

Yes I have already asked them a few things, Can Scotland via their online chat. They have been helpful so far.
Just getting v stressed about this money. And whether I will be in trouble.

As I understand it, if money paid into your account does not get used on bills, rent etc within a 30 day period then it starts to count as capital.

When I had my capital reviewed after a mess up by the DWP, they didn't include the total amount I had in my account at that time, they based the tarriff income on a lower amount. I presume making allowance for rent payments and regular monthly expenditure.
This was while receiving ESA, I would hope they treat it the same under UC.
