ESA Support Group migration to Universal Credit: Questions

Hi Hfd

Having myself worked for the DWP I think that your ID was successfully verified and that owing to some sort of IT issue it was not progressed to the Work Coach's UC software called The Build. So instead of sorting out the IT problem they have taken a short cut and decided to send a Visiting Officer unncecessarily to your home.
I think you should make a complaint to a manager. If you tell me the County that you live in I can find the details of the correct manager.

Just had a long chat to Kathleen.
For some reason that she can't see my ID verification online was not enough and they are unable to do it by phone because they are unable to find 3 questions of sufficient depth/difficulty to ask me. (I'm m assuming this 8s because i dont have much of a credit rating history?) Online and by phone aren't suitable for me apparently. She said it was quite common for online ID to not be complete enough. All v v confusing.

So....still having to wait for a home visit appointment. Any further info/advice about these would be welcome. V v stressed

Hi Hfd

I am not convinced at all by that. The questions are part of the Biographical Test and they are things such as the name of your bank, the start month of your Benefits claim. A member has just post about one of these tests.

Some people maybe with poor memories can't remember the answers and so the Work Coach can offer a Biographical Check which means confirming your ID with someone such as your doctor.

I have been I contact with Citizens Advice and they say a home ID verification seems like the only way forward and that they are becoming more common for people migrating from ESA support group. My family think a home visit is much better for me than having to try to travel 25 miles to the nearest JC. But I am of course v v stressed about it, as I would be if I had to travel to the JC.

I would really appreciate any help/advice/reassurance regarding home ID checks - please see my previous long post on page 5.

Hi Hfd

Here is the official guidance from the DWP regarding Home Visits.
data.parliament.uk/DepositedPapers/Files...ome_visits_V14.0.pdf

Maybe other members who have had a visit recently can fill you in on the finer details.

Thank you David, will have a look at that.

The lady on the phone seemed to think there wasn't enough indepth info on me held on their systems to put together 3 comprehensive questions for a phone ID check. V strange, who knows why.

So...
I'm v much need reassurance on this home ID visit please. That it'll be fairly quick and painless. V stressed.
