ESA Support Group migration to Universal Credit: Questions

Hi again,

Things are going very badly and I'm struggling to cope. I have been using Cit Advice since the start and they are still trying to help me.

I submitted my migration claim from ESA Support Group and Housing Benefit on 3rd March. I had my ID checked at home by a nice man last week, 3rd April.

My first statement was supposed to be available on the 5th but didn't appear until the 7th. The statement was wrong, i just gives me standard allowance of £393 for a month. The have not included my housing costs or lcwra element. CA have done several three way calls to the UC Helpline to try and get it amended. Messages have been left in journal. CA have escalated a complaint to the Manger. The statement has not been changed.

Today was my payment date. I logged into my bank account and today I have received two payments. I gave received my usual ESA payment of £318 AND I have received the UC payment of £393.

I have no idea what is going on or what I should do, apart from get CA to sort this mess out. They are supposedto be phoning me later today again. I am struggling to cope with it all. Any advice/help/input would be gratefully received.

Hi Hfd

For you to get the correct payments then UC staff have to complete what are called To Do's on the UC IT system which is the UC Build. They have obviously messed up here and for whatever reason have not got round to sorting it out.
You need to make a complaint to your area manager in the DWP. If you tell me your County or City I can locate the correct manager.

Hi David,

CA Help To Claim are in the process of escalating a complaint to the area manager - Inverness. I think my home ID check has delayed everything. But UC are not being very communicative.

Hi Hfd

The area manager for North Scotland is Susan MacPherson and her email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

You need to inform her of all the stress, anxiety and mental health issues that Universal Credit has caused you.
For the DWP the answer maybe that someone was off sick and a box on a screen wasn't ticked. But that is no relief to you and an apology is in order.

Let me know how you get on.

David

Thanks.
Will keep you updated. It's in the hands of CA as I am not well enough to be able to deal with it by myself.

It would help if they, UC, were communicating to let people know exactly what is going on throughout the process instead of leaving us in limbo.

I spoke to my Housing Ass earlier because my rent is not being paid until I know what is going on. They said I am not their only tenant that is having problems with migration.

Life is stressful enough when you live with a longterm condition and trying to cope with anything beyond daily basics is impossible.
