Incapacity to ESA cautionary warning
- Oscarmax
My first posting, 8 year ago a sufered a major head injury which has caused damaged to both my mental and physical health.
At present I am on incapacity benefit, omorrow on Thurday the 19 Sept I have to go to se Atos for my ESA assesment, I have clearly stated I have problem with stair ( I walk with 2 crutches) despite this Atos appointment is on the First floor.
I have sent them all my consultants report, but they have asked me to bring the along again ?
I think I am in for a good kicking.

If you are on crutches you will/should be asked if you can manage the stairs in an emergency, if you answer "no" then it is highly likely that your appointment will be cancelled due to Health and Safety issues, so if you would have a problem then I would contact ATOS and ask for the appointment to be moved, you need to stress that this is because of a problem with their facilities and should not count as one of your two opportunities to attend.
With regard the report, make sure you provide a copy not the original, and ask the assessor to read it before proceeding with the assessment as they are required to do by the WCA Handbook, section 3.1.2.

You will not be allowed to use the lift should there be an emergency!
