Hi i sent back ESA50 in December using the guides etc, I was finished from my job due to my ill health in 1998 and also had a medical and was told i had to send no more sick notes in. Then in 2007 again forms arrived to fill in and i didnt have to have medical and was told i i had scored 15 points and again told i needed no more sick notes. However now have had letter back from Atos saying i was to go for F2F assessment this time. Yet since the last time my Health is a lot worse and have stated this on the forms etc and my doctor tells me that they have been in touch and she would be sending said report back before my medical. Also i am on HRC and HRM with DLA would they know this , or do i need to take copies of my award when i go for this Assessment. Thanks by the way for what you do on here , as it is through this site i was successful with my DLA , but i was not with my ESA unfortunately

Hi a,

If you have received an appointment for a face to face assessment before your G.P. has returned his report, then there is a chance that ATOS are not aware of your G.P.'s comments in said report.

You may wish to contact them via their website here by e-mail (contact us top right):

www.atoshealthcare.com/claimants

You could then inform them of this. You are allowed to rearrange a face to face once.

Being in receipt of DLA in any form, will not exempt you from the ESA WCA, including a face to face, although it should help to show that you have a high level of disability.

Unless you can receive written confirmation from ATOS that you do not have to attend the "medical", then you will have to attend. Otherwise you may be classed as fit for work, and your benefits may cease.

Do you know whether your G.P. has stated that you are unfit to attend a "medical" in the report, which is likely to be an : ESA 113 Questionnaire ?

Please return to this post, if you have any further queries.

Hi a,

Just to add, if you cannot obtain a "Home Assessment", or have your assessment done as a paper exercise, and you do have to attend, you can make a request to ATOS for a Taxi door to door, you are also allowed a companion.

If you do have to attend, this FAQ should help you to prepare :

ESA Medical – What to expect

Hi again, i mentioned about my f2f which was for feb 25th i was contacted 1 hour before the time and told sorry the docter has gone sick. Told my benefit would still be paid and new f2f to be sent within 2 weeks. Had new date which was for today 13th at 9am, last night at 5.30 another phone call and cancelled again ! This time excuse was they do not have my file its at head office so it cant be done. Again told my benefit would still be paid as normal, no mention of a new date. Surely they cant keep messing me about like this , so i am again still waiting !

You can make a complaint, but to be honest, given they contacted you before you went to the assessment centre (many do not hear this news until they are there), you may struggle to get a positive result.

Complaining to ATOS Healthcare

Hoping that the next one does not have a problem
