I've written to the MP re 3 issues ......

1-Delays in Appointee process.
2-Issue with WCA process. HAAS advise WCA was recvd from DWP after the 12 DEC 25 deadline. I have proof of posting for 8 DEC 25. HAAS advised case closed on 20 DEC 25 due to late receipt, but UC should 'reinstate' the case on our request ie proof of posting
3-No response to MR request regarding backdating claim.

Hi Sum

I'm sorry that this is being dragged out. I hope you soon hear from your MP and I hope they actually speak to someone at the DWP.

Still no word / acknowledgement from MP office.

While waiting I thought to try the tel number on the appt letter from DWP visiting officer.

I explained the issue to the agent and she explained that :
  • the VIsting team are entirely seperate from DWP bens processing dept ie PIP/UC. As such they do not have access to the Bens claims and cant provide updates
  • they can only deal with the visiting appts
After listening to the issues and all the info i had been given by UC / PIP and work coach the agent took pity on me and said she was messaging the Visiting officer concerned , bec something wasn't right. She said she would ask him to call me.

While i was waiting on the PIP general enquiry line to ask them about the apptee process I got a call from the Visiting officer.

In summary he apologised for his human error. He had all the info from the visit but unfortunately his report was in complete and he had not processed it properly. He took accountability and said he was contacting both PIP and UC to set records straight.

Moral of this story is if you are having issues and waiting a long time :
  1. Dont assume any process runs smoothly - in the digital age - human error is still a thing !

  2. Keep your appt letter - name of visiting officer and importantly the case ref
    3. call the visiting team for confirmation - not UC or PIP

  3. hopefully this doesnt happen too often. But still a valuable lesson if only to demonstrate how fragmented the DWP universe is
