I'm in the ESA Support Group and currently migrating to Universal Credit. My claim isn't complete yet, but I got a journal message from the Job Centre asking if I’d like a voluntary chat about skills, future options, etc. They said it won’t affect my claim or lead to reassessment and that if I want to know more, I should respond to the journal message.
1. Is it normal to get this kind of message while in the Support Group? Can I just ignore it, instead of replying in journal as I'm long-term ill and not looking into work?
2. I was on ESA with SDP. How long will the transitional protection/extra payment last under UC?
Yes you can just ignore it. The DWP believe that some claimants in the Support Group are interested in getting advice about moving into employment. Your UC Transitional Element will diminish gradually over the next few years when there are changes to the UC payment.
