I'm new to Universal Credit as just migrated over.
How long do you find it takes for them to reply to messages you send on your journal? I sent one on 6th to say I thought there was error in my first statement. No reply so sent follow up on 10th.
First payment was today and so quite likely incorrect due to error but know once they do sort it they will probably just pay me less next time to cover the extra I git this time but am more jus curious about response times.

Hi smc,
If you have a work coach, then they're normally pretty quick, within 2 or 3 days I'd say - but I remember someone telling me that if you're in LCWRA, you don't have a work coach allocated, and so messages have to go to a manager to respond, and sometimes that can be a week or two - I've seen this also with my own, when staff have been on leave, or sickness/absence.
Not sure if your incorrect payment is something to do with a certain rule of people having to wait up to 5 weeks before they get paid, so they advise you to apply for a loan with them, and pay it back monthly, interest free.
Hope this helps.
Chris.

Thanks Chris!
I don't have work coach, well not that I am aware of yet, as I said am new to this!
The incorrect payment is nothing to do with the 5 week wait and advance, I didn't take an advance. The reason I believe it is incorrect is due to me being put in LCWRA, I believe it should have been LCW as I was in WRAG on IR ESA. That said I am also a carer who doesn't get CA so should qualify for Carers Element which I believe is higher financial value than LCW so I expected my UC to be standard rate plus carers element.

Hi smc
You cannot get both LCW and Care Element even if you qualify for the CE, I would say you are correct in your analysis.
When you go from ESA to UC all claimants are placed initially in the LCWRA group as the online application only asks if you are in receipt of ESA, it is only when the DWP reviews your claim that they place you in the correct group.

Thanks Gary
When you say review, do you mean a general review of claimants details as they migrate over or reassessment with UC50 etc?

Hi smc,
I think yes. You get your initial check up to ensure everything is correct, then usually yearly, unless you report any changes prior to this that you need to inform them about.
