Can anyone direct me to the guides on driving as in my last assessment all the assessor could quote was upper body strength needed to drive. I have arthritis in my hands and my dexterity is effected my hands have painful nodes etc
Also you don’t need upper body strength to drive a modern car as dexterity is a fine movement not a strength movement.
How do l fight this please

Hi NotHappy

There are no 'guides' on driving. Unfortunately, a lot of people do get penalised for driving.

Have a look at this post, which you may find useful:

Although the occupational therapist confirms that it takes little effort to grip a steering wheel and drive a modern car, they also say, 'unless you are struggling to control the car'. It is this second bit that I think PIP assessors tend to assume that if you drive, you can control the car if you have a blown-out tyre or go into a skid, which could require upper body strength. Not arguing against your view - just what I think their attitude is.
