UC Application - what constitutes 'medical treatments'?

Hi when completing the universal credit application In the 'health' section where it asks you to list your medical conditions it asks:

'Are you receiving, recovering from or expecting to recieve any medical treatments.'

What do they define as 'medical treatments'? Would counselling count or medication? Or is it just major things.

Could anyone help Thanks

Thank you would i have to put the consultants i see as well, even if they are just consultations not treatments? Thanks

The government doesn't have a universal definition of "medical treatment".

The definition quoted appears to be tax law—specifically relating to tax exemptions and reliefs. A legal definition applied in one area of government administration doesn't automatically apply in another.

As it happens, the definition of "medical treatment" as used in certain welfare benefits law is: "medical, surgical or rehabilitative treatment (including any course or diet or other regimen)"—which likewise seems to cover everything, including medication, counselling and consultations (certainly those not limited to diagnosis).

That said, there's no telling whether the DWP had a definition in mind when creating the claim form. Dictionary definitions of "medical" typically centre on "medicine", which includes medication.
