Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Just to add to the advice already posted, ESA does not test your ability to walk, but rather looks at your ability to mobilise, which includes your ability to propel a manual wheelchair over a distance of up to 200m.
So, if you are unable to walk more than 23m but are believed to be able to propel a wheelchair for at least 200m then you will not score any points. The use of the wheelchair must be reasonable and not limited by any physical problems that would prevent you from using one.

It doesn't matter whether or not you actually use a wheelchair, just whether the Decision Maker thinks you could use one!

Hi sc,
That's the whole point of Gordon's comment, you will be assessed on whether you can self propel a manual wheelchair unaided, even if you have never owned one, used one, or been advised to use one.
Even if you could not walk at all, if you could self propel a manual wheelchair unaided the requisite distance, you would be deemed as being able to "Mobilise" said distance.
This is covered in our : ESA Claims Guides
