Nickname: Pasec1960
Age: 65
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health
Main conditions that affect daily living: Arthritis and suffer from a condition called Halux Rigidus which basically means the cartilage on both big toes has worn away and makes the toes very painful and very painful to walk. Diabetes, 3 hearts attacks and heart decease, depression, severe back issues and collapse of bladder
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: I scored 3 points on washing and bathing
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Any walking is difficult and standing for any periods of time are very painful. I was going to be awarded 4 points for preparing food but even tho I have burnt saucepans by not putting water in the pan and accidents with knives etc because I had not gone to A&E was denied the points. I struggle to wash and bathe and am incontinent and have to go to the wc every 30 minutes or so day and night am constantly tired and worn out.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: £295.60 per month and would have a serious effect on my budgeting for food and heating.
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I am now retired and have taken my private pension a year early so as to stop claiming Universal Credit as the stress from the DWP was really effecting my mental state. So I have to wait for the state pension to start in March 2026.
Anything else to tell us: I have claimed ESA then UC and PIP since 2009 and have had to appeal decisions 6 times and each time have won. People assume that claiming benefits and dealing with the DWP is easy and a soft touch, well it isnt, I have tried to take my own life several times because of the pressure and the way the DWP treated me. Its horrendous and through out those years have never received empathy. With what the labour government are proposing is another austerity period and its all about cutting costs. Disabled people have been demonised for to long and it should stop. These cuts will kill people.
