Nickname: sunshine
Age: 59
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health
Main conditions that affect daily living: Spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, depression, psoriasis, severe sleep apnoea
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: unlikely
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Getting dressed, personal hygiene, moving around, doing laundry, doing grocery shopping, emptying & filling the dishwasher, cooking, cleaning, socialising
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I would lose £3,900 per year
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: My 2 adult disabled children who live with me and depend on my care would need to move into residential care homes. This would be hugely traumatic for both of them. My existing severe pain levels & depression would worsen further due to the added stress. I would need social care support to manage my needs in the reduced time I would have available. I would likely deteriorate due to my poor sleep if I was unable to take daytime naps/rests. I imagine the amount of time I would need to take off work due to flares of my conditions due to the added strain would leave me unemployed again in short order.
Anything else to tell us: These proposed cuts are counterproductive in the extreme and will lead to added social care costs which will more than wipe out any savings, not to mention the misery and suffering they will cause to thousands of disabled and vulnerable people.
