Nickname: Heiserfan
Age: 66
Main health condition: Physical health
Main conditions that affect daily living: ME
Rate of PIP daily living component: Enhanced
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Low
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Preparing Food, Washing and bathing, Toiletting, managing therapy, dressing and undressing, moving around.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I will loose my enhanced Daily Living Award, which is about 30% of my current income. As I am completely bedbound and reliant on help from others to perform any tasks, I will no longer be able to afford the essential care at a time when my needs are increasing. I am unable to perform work in any form, so have no means of mitigating this loss.
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I am totally unable to work at all, being completely bedbound, and could not contemplate any sort of work, even on my best days.
Anything else to tell us: I should qualify for 4 points on the preparing food descriptor. as I am unable to perform this task to the PIP-defined acceptable standard. However, the assessment system has consistently denied me this level of award due to the arbitrary and biased assessment system. Also, the fact that my points are widely spread across so many descriptors is a clear indication of the severity of my illness. I cannot understand how someone like myself, who is completely bedbound is to be denied the basic support I rely on.
