Nickname: Scoobiedont
Age: 60-65
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health
Main conditions that affect daily living: Multiple sclerosis, arthritis, bowel disease, asthma, anxiety and depression.
Rate of PIP daily living component: Enhanced
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Don’t know.
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Anything that involves grip and a steady hand. I am at risk of falls so cannot use the shower. Because of pain I cannot wash above or below the waist to a satisfactory standard, nor repeatedly. I cannot cook or cut food because of my hands. I cannot manage my medication. I am unable to self inject or get tablets out because of issues with packets. Due to severe fatigue everything is a struggle.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I am living on a a small work pension and my PIP and am not eligible for any benefits and not yet entitled to state pension. If my Daily Living PIP is cut I will lose £110.40 per week.
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I was medically retired from work. My illnesses and disabilities make me completely unfit for work and I am not well enough to return. I am not looking for work because of this.
Anything else to tell us: Employers don’t want sick and disabled people. They need to be able to meet deadlines etc…. All they care about are visible disability and cannot accommodate not unpredictable and messy disability I.e continence issues. They are clueless about fatigue and side effects of medication. In fact, it’s probable a health and safety risk. I am in this category and have no desire to return to work at all because of my illnesses and how they affect me.
