Submission ID: 1161019

Nickname: Sue Smith
Age: 57
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health
Main conditions that affect daily living: Osteoarthritis, Tarsal Coalition, Fibromayalga, IBS, Anxiety
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Unlikely
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Due to severe pain/deformities from Arthritis in all my lower limbs, inflexibility & balance/stability issues.... Daily struggles include washing and dressing, shopping, preparing of meals, keeping myself and flat clean and tidy as I live alone, constant pain, lack of sleep and isolation has lead to debilitating anxiety
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I expect to lose my Standard PIP allowance and not acquiring the 4 points would also lose my LCWRA benefit also. I will struggle to survive, as I don't drive I will be unable to afford public transport, the pressure of being forced into applying for jobs I will never be able to do physically or safely, the threat of then being sanctioned and losing my home when already suffering not just physical conditions but also mental health issues would leave me and my life spiralling out of control
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: Feeling immense pressure at being forced into a job that you physically wouldn't be able to do would have a huge affect on my mental health, I can't walk long distance, use stairs/ or uneven surfaces safely, sit for long periods of time, concentrate for long periods. When you have all of your hospital diagnosis and screening letters proving all your conditions why should I be forced to prove how ill or the pain and exhaustion I'm feeling to a stranger at a Job centre. What employer would really be interested ?
Anything else to tell us: I can imagine there are hundreds or thousands in the same position as myself. This 4 point rule is an utterly unfair way to treat humans with life long conditions or disabilities and the double whammy of then losing LCWRA in one hit through not scoring 4 points so as to being forced back into work is nothing but bullying at the most vulnerable for no fault of our own. Only people whom claim and have to survive on benefits understand the difficulties in getting these, you have to literally jump through hoops. To be seen as some kind of state scrounger or work shy individual, which i feel is the label we are being given ! Is offensive. I have worked all my life, heading towards 60 now, with degenerative arthritis and other debilitating conditions, what is expected of me ? 40+ hours a week working or expect sanctions, is this what's proposed for the disabled?
