Nickname: Hopeless
Age: 60+
Main health condition: Mental health
Main conditions that affect daily living: Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Rate of PIP daily living component: Enhanced
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: It depends on the assessor, and their knowledge/understanding of my condition.
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: When I'm completely closed down, I do not communicate or function at all - don't leave bed, don't eat, don't wash, don't listen, don't talk.
When I'm not closed down, I'm exhausted due to hypervigilance.
My life consists of fight/flight/freeze modes. I'm exhausted 24/7/365.
My memory is shot - disassociation - brain opts out when difficult/important issues are being discussed.
Unrelenting feelings of shame, guilt, worthlessness, hopelessness and uselessness.
I don't understand the point of me.
when the nightmares take over, almost every night, I rely on MH help lines to see me through to the next day.
Leaving home - extremely rarely - is only achievable if I have someone I trust with me and is only for medical appointments.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: PIP
NS ESA
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I just wouldn't do it. I couldn't do it.
I achieve, on average, less than three hours sleep per day.
I worked for 40+ years on that amount of sleep, it made me ill (depression/anxiety), unproductive, and generally unsafe.
Due to hypervigilance, I was considered weird, a freak, and a drama queen whenever I reacted differently to events than colleagues.
Reasonable adjustments were resented and frequently commented on (negatively) by colleagues.
Anything else to tell us: At home, I can minimise the triggers that will result in flashbacks and all that comes with those.
In a work environment those triggers are omnipresent from tone of voice, to scent, to noise, to trigger words etc. etc.
