Benefits and Work has created a brief, anonymous questionnaire about the PIP cuts in which your answers will immediately be published online.  The one page survey is for anyone who currently gets PIP daily living without scoring any 4 point descriptors.

The purpose is to provide some of the evidence about who the cuts will affect and how, which the government is desperately trying to keep hidden from the public.

So please consider completing the survey.  It will allow, campaigners, researchers, journalists, MPs and ordinary members of the public to get a better understanding of who Labour is targeting as it tries to rush through these savage cuts.

In the survey you are asked not to give your real name or any name you routinely use online, in order to protect your privacy as your answers will be immediately published online.

There's more information and a link to the survey here.

Thank you to Scorpion, Matt, and all the others who post good comments here.
I'm not going to continue worrying about these reforms anymore. Whatever happens happens. I'll figure out a way to deal with it closer to the time.

There is a 100% certainty that we are all going to die at some point in the future. We are never safe. There is no safety and security in life.

Focus on self-care and doing what you enjoy.

Please fill in the form above. It gives an idea as to how harsh the changes would be to us  and the  income we could lose in the future.
We are not just a statistic on paper ,we are real vulnerable people who are just being bullied into having to find employment in exchange for the government plugging the gap and getting a pat on the back for doing so…. . May I ask where are all the jobs for all the millions affected ?

I was NEVER sent the breakdown of where I was allocated the PIP points Just the total amount of points. I WAS going to request a copy of that information, but have recently been told that if these proposals go ahead then the new PIP scoring system would be applied in any event.

Due to everything else that is going on with my health and other personal circumstances I have as such decided NOT to even begin to try to get the original decision of the points and whether or not or if or not I got a 4 point score on one of the descriptors/activities.

I DO NOT AGREE WITH this 4 point malarkey. IT is NOT ACCEPTABLE in order to still receive the daily living component of PIP. Whether or NOT it did/does apply in my case. For the reason(s) I state above.

Without this element of PIP I would NOT be able to pay care workers, my basic human rights of being washed, dressed and nutrition and medication, toileting needs would NOT be met. All other support external from care that I have to meet the costs for that I am literally, physically UNABLE to do for myself I would ALSO NOT have the financial support for that imperative network of support either, IF the daily living component of PIP was taken away from me.

I do NOT have any family alive, due to other personal circumstances my life-long friends live 300 miles away from me.

My care is sourced from Local Council, they are ALREADY in a financial mess due to cuts and they in order to continue to support care in our homes in my geographical area we DO have to pay a significant amount towards our care. Even when it is JUST benefits that we receive with NO savings.

Also STILL a shortage in care workers in the geographical area where I live which has meant that the additional support separate from care has also been, quite literally a genuine life line for me. They HAVE been the continuity in my network of support. However, they ALSO have to be PAID!

One of my many conditions is rare. The others NOT rare but, however degenerative and incurable.

I am physically severely DISABLED. Of course this impacts on my mental health and well-being.

The Government state that they WILL protect this category. NOT SO when  you really DELVE into these proposals. Actually I DO think that it is the 'class of persons' category, that I fall into that it is their intention, to totally abandon. Hoping that I WILL NO LONGER be one of their RARE COMPLEX CASES that they appear to be targeting. That my body will give up and I will give up and that I will no longer be on this earth to be a burden to anybody.

Whereby the 4 points does NOT fit neatly into one of their boxes. I do NOT state this in IGNORANCE either. However, Kendall's proposals to this 4 point are so totally ignorant.

Indeed, it appears the more complex and the more rare the conditions they are going to put us through it because it does NOT fit into a box!

How I feel is that I have had enough physical pain and enough hurt to include being subjected to disability hate crime in my life. Where it was 'High Level' Hate Crime because of my disabilities. That level of persecution I WILL take to my grave with me. It is still an 'OUCH' now. Throughout that time I told myself every single day that I would stand up to the ignorant bullies in society and I DID and I took them ALL through the courts. What I NEVER imagined years later that I would have to be standing up to the IGNORANT BULLIES in Government who are as IGNORANT as those whose inflicted physical harm to me and my home.

THEREFORE, SHAME ON YOU STARMER, REEVES AND KENDALL AND THE REST OF YOUR ACOLYTES FOR INFLICTING HATE CRIME ON EVERY DISABLED SICK AND LONG-TERM CHRONICALLY UNWELL PERSON(S) IN SOCIETY! ALL THE PROGRESS THAT THE EQUALITY ACT 2010 MADE TO PROTECT OUR PROTECTED CHARACTERISTICS YOU HAVE WITH YOUR PROPOSALS MADE IT LEGAL AGAIN TO ATTACK THE DISABLED, LONG TERM SICK PHYSICAL AND MENTAL IMPAIRED.

With the 4 point rule. That they propose.

I TRUST MY ANONIMITY WILL BE PROTECTED FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE SURVEY

      @MJ Hi MJ

What date did the BBC air this about Disability Groups 'stepping back' over the benefit cuts?

That these cuts and changes are going to negatively effect disabled people how on earth can Labour justify it given the fact that any changes to incapacity/disability benefits would need to align itself with the Human Rights Act 1998 and the Equalities Act 2010.

What about the massive amount of people that never claimed pip but get lcwra and won't under the pip as a gateway benefit?

@Scorpion Hi Scorpion try looking on Disability Rights website someone I know personally is in the same situation as you Carbow32, Sam and others on this site.

It is minimal what is on their website pertaining to this BUT each of you will hopefully get a little bit of insight into the matter after reading it and if or NOT it will affect each of you in each of your own personal circumstances.

As such, you may NOT be affected at ALL, at this moment in time, but as with the rest of us you maybe affected if the proposals go ahead end of 2026 as the REST of us will be no matter what group or what benefit you receive.

It looks as if you do have some sort of protection if you are an existing claimant, at the moment

It does NOT mean that people only on LCWRA would be hit the hardest as the idea of it all with the proposals is to ULTIMATELY scrap LCWRA across ALL the benefits which would also affect those claiming PIP as that would be stripped away at that time ALSO.

I would contact your local council welfare team to ascertain the exact facts on this. As it DOES appear to be a bit of grey area and the proposals thus far have NOT mentioned this specifically.

@Carbow32 This is the worst chopped off comment yet 😡

It is now possible to get a PIP claims form by posting a letter to Freepost, DWP, PIP 1. There is another, longer, address :

      Personal Independence Payment New Claims
      Post Handling Site B
      Wolverhampton
      WV99 1AH

Put in the letter that you want a PIP1 form, and write why you're unable to claim by phone.

Depending where you live, you may be able to claim online :

      https://www.apply-for-pip.dwp.gov.uk/eligibility/check-if-eligible

I'm sure the main reason those of us who are eligible for PIP but don't claim it is because of having to use the phone.

      @Sam Hi Sam

I do NOT know in ALL honesty what will happen here, this does NOT apply to me but there are a few members on this site who are asking the same question.

Is there NOT any explanatory details anywhere regarding this?

Try Citizens Advice or perhaps even Scope.

@Sam Thank you for saving me time, as I was exactly going to say the same.

People who are only on LCWRA would be the ones who would be hit hardest, yet nobody is addressing this.

@Sam Yes I am one of those.  Possibly entitled to PIP  (as it stands now) but can't face even phoning them for an application form

I’ll definitely respond to this survey today. I had a 2nd response from an All Party Parliamentary Group today after sending a follow up email, this was the group for Poverty and Inequality. Be encouraged, some MPs are definitely on our side. The response is below:

Thank you so much for your email and please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you.

Thank you for sharing your story and I'm so sorry to hear about the impact that the proposals will have on you and your family. I will pass on your original email to the APPG officers. We are currently planning a response to what the government has proposed in the green paper. The proposals were discussed at our EGM meeting last week and the room was unanimous in its condemnation for the proposals.

We are also holding an inquiry into the disproportionate impact of poverty and inequality on disabled people. The call for evidence is currently open and closes on Monday 14 April.

I will be in-touch with you with regards to the APPG's plans to respond to the green paper publicly.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

@DJ You’re very kind DJ but its just pure anger driving me and that makes me like a dog with a bone sometimes. Any knowledge I have is just from this amazing website.  All the contacts for APPGs are in a separate B&W post. I emailed 5, got one supportive reply straight away (Carers)and chased the other 4 today, then got two more replies, one not very helpful (Health) and one supportive (Poverty). Still waiting for replies on the other two. Try to contact as many relevant ones as you can, we need to shout from the rooftops (politely, ha ha). I just copied and pasted the same to all but obviously changed who i was addressing it to and tried to tweak it to make it relevant to the particular group (e.g Poverty/Carers etc)
Thanks for your encouragement and positivity- we all need that at this horrible time

      @Gingin Hi Gingin

      Thank you for sharing

      Your energy is remarkable.

      Your knowledge is remarkable.

      Your passion is remarkable.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT THERE ARE A LOT OF MP'S WHO ARE TOTALLY AGAINST THESE PROPOSALS!

Those MP's who are against, the brutality of these reforms, to my knowledge are the more mature, and the most experienced serving MP's. Who HAVE SEEN historically the impact that previous governments, wrath and scapegoating have done to the vulnerable in society and as such KNOW that these proposals for welfare reform, in modern day history perhaps the most BRUTAL yet! They ALSO know historically the amount of harm and deaths that in the past occurred.

Those MP's are DEFINITELY on our side. Those MP's are the ones who have seen with their own eyes in their own communities just how utterly barbaric, unlawful and inhumane this is.

I will look up the APPG

      Really helpful

      Thank you

I currently get 8 points in one category and 2 in several others. However I am very worried that I will be unfairly reassessed in future (I have already lost out for one 4 year period where an assessor made errors) or that they may change the points so that prompting no longer gets points and they change my 8 to 4, then I'll get nothing and lose LCWRA aswell. I am currently experiencing a mental health crisis because of all this, I have started having panic attacks at home again after several years of only having them outside. I am sinking into depression and every day I wake up with uncontrollable anxiety. They need to know that even just the possibility of these changes is causing harm, let alone what it will do to people who lose everything without recourse to appeal. I'm scared for all of us.

@Am Am I have a feeling people will be given less points on reassessment just to make people fit the narrative. I hope I’m wrong but this did cross my mind. My son scored 22 on his last assessment in 2017 and had 4 points for on 4 descriptors, the rest were 2 points. He got a 10 year ongoing award but am dreading his next assessment even though nothing has changed.
