Dear Jim
In my experience most people give up when they are turned down. You should not be afraid at all as around 60% of appeals are successful.
Under no circumstances can a hospital consultant or registrar determine the outcome of your application.Your GP is better placed.
DLA is not determined by your medical condition alone several other factors are taken into account mostly your abilities to perform tasks.
You should study carefully what criteria applies to you and the basis on which you think you should qualify. Study carefully the Benefits and Work guide for DLA.Meet
an advisor from CAB,Community Legal advice,Social services and go for an appeal.
Best of Luck

Hi
Sorry I should have given name instead of abreviating.
S.L.E is systemic lupus erythemtotus mouth full isn't it?
This affects muscle and joints causing difficulty with every day living eg,cooking, food prep and personal care, it also causes great fatigue which is a problem on it's own.
Every morning you have no idea which joins/muscle's will be affected.
There is no specific medication at the moment hence the amount of different drugs my GP is trying.
I have had this flare up since 2008 but I didnt know I had this untill I saw my GP about swelling in my joints 2009.
I have got worse and amy GP is trying to help, but someone mentioned St Thomas Lupus clinic and to be honest I am prepared to try anything to be pain and exhaustion free.
Hope this helps sorry again for not making it clearer in the begining.
Regards
Sue

Hi Dave
I am not sure where the link is (probably me) I am quite happy to email if that is within the rules.
I tried to email St Thomas nurse but she is on leave at the moment, I am greatful for you taking the time to reply.

Sue
