polly Arthritis was created by chuck
i have polly Arthritis and have recently filled out a form for the renewal if my ib .
i was then informed i have to a medical
i thought i was exampt from a medical.
i then phoned them and asked if they had contacted my doctor for his report they said they had.
i phoned my doctor to check and he said no form had been recived.
i then phoned them back only to discover they had sent the forms to my doctor but at the wrong address.
they sent him some more to him at the right address.
but the problem is they wont have his info at the time of my medical.
so how do i stand if my doctor states polly Arthritis.
should i be having a medical in the first place.
can i ask them to change the date of the medical to after they have recived my doctors reports as it was there fault they sent them to the wrong address.

Hi Chuck,

I think any claimant in your position should definitely try to get the medical postponed until the DWP have received the IB113 from your GP.

As you say, it is their error that has led to the non-return of the IB113 and they really should be considering possible exemption before calling you in for a medical.

Be prepared to contact your MP and let the DWP know you are doing so - every vote will count quite soon, so your MP may be keen to show willing.

But, ultimately, if they won't postpone the medical you must attend or risk losing your IB.

Good luck and let us know what happens,

Steve

Thanks steve for your responce my doctor has now recived the ib113 but it will not be returned before my medical date so i am going to try and get a later date from them.
if my wife gives them a ring and says i am not well enough to attend do they have give me a new date or will i lose my benifit.

Hi Chuck,

We couldn't offer advise on telling the DWP you're not well enough to attend a medical if that isn't the case. But there's no reason why you shouldn't just point out what they've got wrong and tell them that if they don't postpone the medical you'll be contacting your MP.

Good luck,

Steve

Hi chuck, Just ask your doctor to add seperate statement stapled to their form to give details of your condition and how it affects you. Just put your NatIns No on the sheets,
