ESA medical was created by Marie72
I finally managed to get through to ATOS and have my medical on 12th April. I was wondering if there is any information on the site or a link to what to expect at the medical and what questions you could be asked. I am claiming on MH grounds. Sorry for the bother.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Page 79 should answer your question?

Hi,
well you can expect a doctor to ask you to sit down then tell you he cant listen to your symptoms he can only answer the questions on the screen.
He will ask you if you can stand and can you sit and can you touch your nose.
From this type of examination he will make his report that you have Mild this and mild that and you are fit for work. Then you will have to do what the rest of us do and appeal.
Read what this site tells you about appealing and get some help.
Sorry if it sounds down beat but the reality is downbeat and if you watched the BBC report on Monday night you will have seen a young man who had broken his leg in two places and had a plaster on from his toe to his hip and they said he was fit for work.
As I have said before the doctors who look at your are from an organisation called Atos but should be called R Toss.
Let us all know how you go on.

Hi
There is a full guide on this site to exactly what the medical entails.
It completely reassured me before I went and I was left just worrying over the doctor I was going to have, due to reading about people's problems on here.
the dr I saw was very knowledgeable and very caring and polite and helpful. It went very well and he even told me there and then that I'd got enough points!
I then got a letter soon after confirming this.
I then recd a 2nd letter from ATOS saying I needed to attend for a medical. It turned out this was part 2 of the medical!
It was to do with my attitude to work, there's also lots on here about that! My 2nd one didn't go as well, due to the dr being quite offish and I felt very uncomfortable, but I got a written report of it and she was, at least, fairly accurate in what she'd written, only 2 mistakes! At least this one isn't so important, so that's a relief.
Read up on here all about the medical, take someone with you, if you can and want to, they can go into the medical with you if you want.
Don't panic at all - deep breaths, fingers crossed it all goes well for you!

Thanks for the kind words and the advice. I have a support worker from Mind going with me, so hopefully I won't be so panicky
