hiya!
a quick question... i am UC and LCWRA, my brother who runs a business has offered me to work a few hours for him (paid work) as a one off. i was wondering if this may affect my benefits at all, if i were to take him up on this offer? or if i would need to declare it to dwp etc?
I also wanted to double check something, i understand that if one is living at home, in family household (my Dad's house) it isnt possible to claim any housing element to pay him rent is it?

The problem is that your brother will be breaking the law if he employs you and doesn't declare it on the HMRC system. HMRC share the information with UC so they will know if he does conform to the law.
No you cannot get any help with rent if as you describe you are living with your Dad.

Just wanted to share our experience.
Clmt 1 UC+LWCRA.
He has been given adhoc contract/commission work via family and friends. its not regular or consistent.
Son gets a UCJ todo every AP to declare income. His UC is adjusted if required.
Clmt 2 UC+LWCRA
started a new job. clmt was kept open. the HMRC report her earnings to DWP automatically and makes adjustments accordingly.
everything is shared and transparent and UC keeps running but with deductions

I should imagine and I think it is very plausible that your Clmt 1 is self employed as far as Universal Credit is concerned ?
