PIP Extensions when already under review was created by Jasmine3234
Hi
I was originally awarded PIP Enhanced on both (with a very stressful home assessment) when DLA did the change over years ago. My next review a few years later was awarded paper based (enhanced again) within a couple of weeks.
I had to do a review again in June 2025 which was very stressful, but I sent it with a lot of supporting evidence. Apparently it has gone to the assessment team and I am still waiting. They did extend by one year because they haven't got around to it.
What is upsetting me is that while I am happy for the thousands who seem to have had their award extended without the stress of filling in all the paperwork/assessment, it seems very unfair to me that due to timelines mine is going through the full review process and I'm still waiting 14 months on not knowing if I will have to have a full assessment (which I just can't cope with).
What are the chances now of mine being reviewed paper based?
Sorry, but I'm just upset with the whole system and unfairness.

Hi Jasmine3234
I would say that there is a good chance of your review being conducted Paper Based again. This is because DWP and HAAS resources are very stretched which is the reason for the new extension exercise.
Let us know how you get on.

Thank you David.
Let's hope you are right.
I'm just so frustrated with the way things have panned out in the last couple of months.

Again, thank you David. However as mine is in the system from June 2025 I can't help worrying. Originally I was told a decision had been made withing 2 days of them receiving the paperwork. It was an error because I had included the original Health Assesors report.
When I called I was finally put through to a "first assessor" who explained what had happened and said he would bump me up and look at it that day. I heard nothing since then and when I phoned last year the person on the phone said I am going to have to have a medical assessment.
I have had no texts, nothing, just a letter around May 2026 saying they had extended for one year, basically until they get around to it.
This is why I am so anxious and upset that so many people are getting their awards extended without any further stress. I must reiterate again that I am pleased for these people, but not the unfairness of the system.
Sorry for rambling on, but I daren't even try and call in case I open a can of worms. x

Hi Jasmine3234
Thanks for your update. I can only sympathise with your unfortunate position.
