Turnaround time PIP review assessments

Hi B&W ppl

My brother recently tried to call PIP to provide more info on his health. It turns out this review has been pending for 1 year ! Is that normal time frame to expect ?

Also he has been told they need specialist input to assess his health condition ..... what does that mean and how long does that take ?

i'm trying to get to bottom of this ... he obvs needs help and cant engage on the phone with them - he failed the basic security questions. This is a common thing for him , issues engaging with ppl and systems.

i tried getting sense of the turnaround times from searching forum posts and saw recent posts stating decisions received within a month of review submission.

is there cause for alarm bells in this case ?

Hi Sum

The turnaround varies considerably as you have found out. There are people who have been waiting nearly two years for their reviews to take place, and some who find they are done within 8 weeks. It's impossible to tell.

The specialist input: - They want to consult a medical professional to help assess his condition. This could be any relevant medical professional who helps in the care of your brother.
