Query re. UC and increase in housing costs

Hi,

I receive the housing element of UC (LCWRA) and have been notified that my rent will be increasing later this year.
I tried to inform UC/DWP of this via my journal and began the change of circumstances option relating to housing .
When I entered the start date of the change, I was prompted that a future date could not be entered.
I wasn't sure what to do and cancelled the change, thinking that I would need to wait to fill out the online form.

My journal now has a "Where you live and what it costs cancelled" message added by me. I am worried that this entry will affect my UC claim (I was migrated over from ESA and am still unsure how to do things).

Please can you advise me when/how to update UC/DWP regarding the increase in my housing costs?
Also, do I need to contact DWP to explain the journal message?

Thanks for any advice that you can give me.

Hi QWERTY

It is a legal requirement by your landlord to notify you 2 months before any changes to rent/service charge increase.
When you are in receipt of UC, you should notify UC of an increase in your rent in the assessment period your rent changes.
I would make a note on your Journal about what you did, you can also contact UC helpline and explain what happened, at the same time check you have not cancelled your current Housing Element.
