Forced migration ESA to UC. 're Housing benefit was created by Cerephina
Hello, I may be over reading this letter/mildly panicking but I submitted my claim to UC last Friday and today I received a letter from my council telling me;
I have terminated your housing benefit award from 21st November 2025. Full rent is now payable from this date. The dept of works and pensions advised us that you qualify for an additional two weeks extension of your housing benefit, known as Transition to US housing payment..
I am reading this as I no longer qualify for housing, as it say "full rent is now Payable from this date" am I correct or panic reading? I
I found the online form quite straightforward to fill in (after reading your guide) but was slightly anxious after receiving this letter, that I may have incorrectly filled something in. Any thought would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Today received a msg that I need to provide a Fit note and that I had not accepted my commitments, which I had. Not so straight forwards after all!

Yes, your Housing Benefit ends when you apply for UC. You should receive the Housing Element (which replaces Housing Benefit) in your UC payment If you have given them all the details about your housing situation.
Please don't panic about the letter; I received one just the same. It's simply stating that you will no longer receive Housing benefit, but you should still get help with your rent (if eligible) from UC.

My "caseworker" has been in touch and said that everything is fine, there was a delay in passing over my esa support group paperwork and so I had mistakenly been ask for a sick note. Everything has been correctly filled in and to take no notice of computer generated notices about not accepting my commitments as there is a glitch. Feel much calmer now. Very nice chap who was extremely kind and helpful.
