Pension credit eligibility was created by Zoob
Hello please could I have some updated advice ๐..I will next year reach the state pension age .
I have recently transferred from legacy benefits esa support group to migration UC & new style esa with TP ( trying to get DHP re awarded )
I have had so much conflicting advice recentlyโฆi am unable to ask DWP / citizens age UK etc because my pension is due more than 4 months away.
My situation is
I will receive the full state pension ยฃ230.25 ( pre budget rise ) .
I live alone .
No one receives carers allowance for me .
I have no private pension or savings or property .
I receive daily care pip enhanced rate .
I receive mobility enhanced .
I rent my 3 bedroom housing association house ( adapted following my decline in health )
Can you advise me given on todayโs rules etc what if any help I am likely to receive
I donโt think I am eligible for a penny guaranteed pension credit .
Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi Zoob
Your question is outside the remit of the forum, but I will answer your questions.
3 months before you reach state pension age you should receive a letter from the pension service inviting you to apply for your state pension, if you do not apply you will not receive your state pension.
From the information in your post, you will also be eligible to apply for Guarantee Pension Credit (GPC) as you will be eligible for SDP because you are in receipt of the daily living component of PIP and no one claims carers allowance for you.
Once you receive GPC you will be entitled to full HB and CTS. Don't forget you can ask your HB to be backdated to when your UC stopped.
Your UC will stop one day before you reach state pension age. If you are affected by the under occupancy charge (bedroom tax) as you live in a 3 bed property, this will stop once you reach state pension age, so you do not need to apply for DHP to cover rent shortfall.
You need to seek specialist advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation: advicelocal.uk where they can take all your circumstances into consideration when giving you advice.

Thank you for your answer Gary I am extremely grateful & I am very sorry itโs not in the usual remit .I just canโt help worrying since the age UK advisor told me that i would not be entitled to any GPC although I presented her with exactly the same information i supplied you with ..I have been worried about my future financial situation ..once again thank you so much for your time.

Hi Zoob
Initially you would not be entitled to GPC, but Age UK adviser had not taken into consideration that you receive PIP Daily Living component and no one claims carer allowance for helping you, and therefore you would be entitled to an additional GPC premium, SDP. This premium is quite often missed, it's the first thing I always check for.

Based on what information, i think you will be elegible for Pension Credit, as you are in receipt of PIP DL enhanced rate.
For any others reading you dont need DL Enhanced rate, PIP standard DL would also be elegible.
PIP motability alone with Daily Living would not qualify (it is the care part needed to be elegible)
One can own their home and still receive Pension Credit,
