Hello to All

Thank You to all the moderators for still been here to help us out.
Have read the invaluable guide on migration from old benefits to UC and have received a deadline of 4th December
I would like a moderator to look at my timeline and see if I understand it correctly so do not make a mistake.

My next payment dates for old benefits 1/ Monday 17th Housing Benefit 2/Thursday 20th ESA 3/Thursday 4th December

1/ Am I write in thinking that after I open my online migration, that all of the benefits above would be guaranteed to be paid for another 14 days afterwards ?

2/ If the answer to 1 is Yes then I am thinking a date of 21st November would be a good date to claim as that would take my 2 weeks from claim to 5th December with a payment from ESA due of 4th December

Do you think this would work date wise or to tight. I have based the assumption that from the date of Migration Online application that OLD benefits that I will continue to receive for 14 days after that date and will then STOP

It would help my anxiety by checking with you first to ensure I have understood the guide.

Once again THANK YOU in advance

PS I thought the new government would have automatically transferred people over via a computer programme. Which would have been a lot easier than it been put on the claimant as am sure people would agree with including the moderators

Hi Carl77

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.

In answer to your questions:

1) No, you cannot guarantee that all of the benefits above would be guaranteed to be paid for another 14 days afterwards, when you apply for UC a stop notice should be issued to your legacy benefits once your ID has been verified.
2) We would advise you to seek specialist advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation: advicelocal.uk where they can take all your circumstances into consideration when giving you advice.

With your legacy benefits ESA and HB you may get a two week run on.

CAB Help to Claim advised me to claim the day after the ESA payment. So 21st November looks like the right date for you.
