ESA migration to Universal Credit was created by maureens
I have two sons who have been receiving ESA and are in the Support Group. Both have been receiving the same weekly ESA. Each one has had to migrate over to UC. One son got his 2 week run on of ESA then he got a P45 from the ESA section. I also add that each year he received his P60 it says his ESA is not taxable. I am not sure if he was receiving ESA income related or both contributions based and income related ESA. He has not received any UC payment yet.
The other son migrated over last week. Has not had his 2 week run on of ESA yet or a P45 . A message in his journal says he is eligible for New Style ESA contribution based element at £140 a week which will be deducted from his UC. When he was receiving his P60 from ESA it stated part of his ESA was taxable. Will this New Style ESA run on from the previous ESA. Thanks

Hi maureens
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.
It is hard to answer your question as we do not have all the facts, quite often ESA claimants receive both IR & CB ESA without knowing, the IR ESA part the claimant can claim UC, the CB ESA part the claimant will receive NS ESA which will be deducted £ for £ from their UC award.
We would advise you to seek help from your local Welfare Rights Specialist; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies in your area advicelocal.uk
