I moved over to UC from ESA IR earlier this year. I believe I am also in the contribution based ESA as I was in the support group. When I moved over imy transitional protection moved with me.
I am looking to move out of the area I have lived in for 15 years. The area has rapidly declined and it is affecting my health even more now. I am currently in a 1 bed social housing flat and in receipt of full housing benefit and reduced council tax. I may have the offer of an exchange , moving to a 2 bed flat in a much better area. Financially it maybe a little tight as I will need to pay the bedroom tax, although I could manage it. The other person's landlord in theory will accept the exchange. I am wondering if I will loose / incur any other costs moving to a different area.

Hi craig41
Apart from under occupancy charge (bedroom tax) if the rent is more expensive the it could affect your transitional protection.
We would advise you to seek help from your local Welfare Rights Specialist; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies in your area advicelocal.uk , they will be able to take all your circumstances into condition when giving you advice.
