Please let me know if this is not appropriate for this forum. I applied for UC less than two weeks ago. Normally I get my HB payment at the end of the month. It hasn't arrived. I checked my notices and it says my HB was suspended 4 days after I made the claim to UC. I called the council and they told me they automatically put a hold on the payment when they receive the notice - they received the notice the day after the claim.
He said it can take them up to 4 weeks to review this and release the payment. Is that right? What is the point of the 2 week run on in this case? Should I apply for an advance or hope that it will be resolved sooner?
Could the suspension I see from 4 days after the claim be the review and decision, or is it more likely to be the automatic hold?
It could be a problem specific to your Councils HB department. If you are thinking of claiming a UC Advance though you have limited time to do this. A new claim Advance can only be made during the first Assessment Period. You can usually apply on your smart phone.
