New esa claim was created by Kindsoul
Hi everyone, I have already awarded LCWRA and PIP and on UC for almost a year now.
can I claim new esa? I have stopped working since 2022 however receiving the NI credits ( child benefits credit I believe) as my wife works full time.

Will I have to go through the whole process again eg. Form and assessment as per new esa OR will I be moved automatically since I already have LCWRA and PIP. I am really confused , please advise. Thanks

Hi Kindsoul

I doubt if you will met the contribution conditions for NS ESA which are as follows -

1. In one of the two relevant tax years, paid Class 1 contributions (and worked at least 26 weeks in one of these years), or paid Class 2 contributions, at least 26 times the lower earnings limit and

2. During both the relevant tax years, paid or been credited with Class 1 or 2 contributions at least 50 times the lower earnings.

Also if you are awarded NS ESA then your payments will be deducted £ for £ from your UC..
