Moved from ESA to UC. Work coach asked if would like housing element paid directly to council, and we said yes. First UC payment was on Aug 4th and second payment this month was on Sep 4th. On both statements it says housing element has been deducted and paid directly to council.

I have been querying with UC journal for last month and they assure that it has been paid. However when i call council they claim still no arrived in rent account.

Almost 8 weeks since started UC and housing element is not arrived in council rent account.

I keep contacting council and UC every week but get same response from them and saying contact the other.

What can i do? is this normal? is there problem with APA?

Hi Stan

No it's not the fault of UC but the Council employee not using the Social Housing landlord portal correctly with which they can message UC and arrange for your UC Housing Costs to be paid directly to them as per instructions below.

www.gov.uk/guidance/social-rented-sector-landlord-portal

Let me know the resolution.

hello,

Still have same issue 3 months now. Even though apa direct payment to pay council has been set up, council say they have not recieved any money and UC keep saying it has been sent.

1. I tried to make complaint to UC but they just hand it to same Case manager who says he is in contact with council

2. when i call council they say they not received any new info

3. Both claim they are in contact with each other but this has been going on for so long now

Going in same loop. I call UC, then council and they say trying to investigate but nothing.

I tried also calling citizen advice but all they do is call uc and leave message on journal.

There is bad adminstration and incompetance from both the council and UC.

Please anyone, what can i do? Three months of worry and nothing is being done and over thousands of pounds in rent arrears.

Hi stan

If you tell me the town or county where you live I should be able to locate the correct DWP manager to make a complaint.
