Doctor’s letter supporting evidence was created by Vicky
Hello, my Doctor will be writing a letter regarding my health conditions, impact on me etc. I know sometimes the DWP send the doctor’s a report to fill out - but in this circumstance where the Doctor is writing the letter, what kind of things should I ask him to mention it? Does anyone have any experience of this?
I have medical evidence which has my diagnosis and medications but nothing in depth, the Doctor is aware of all the issues but nothing sure how the evidence works for in terms of DWP?

I often ask doctors for letters. I get them to include what the patient/claimant thinks is most important. The doctor can't really talk to whether someone can do most of the PIP questions - but they do know current conditions, they can write about anything they have observed (which could be problematic if you don't agree) and any investigations.
I prefer to write the letter and give it to the doctor and ask them if they could write something based on what I have said. (They have always just copied it). However, you may not be in that position - and you may just have to trust your doctor - but the more you can control the contents - the better. Remember, if they write something you don't like, you won't be able to change it. And I don't want to scare you, but if by chance the letter is not a good one (and that has happened to people) don't use it
