Online Verification For Universal Credit was created by Leo
Hi,
I recently received my managed migration notice to move over to UC. My question surrounds verifying your identify online which goes along side applying for UC. I've checked on the government website and it says that there's only three forms that they'll take which are a valid passport, self assessment return and credit reference. I definitely have a passport, but was wanting to know what comes under the credit reference part as at least this to me seems very vague?
As well as this I was wanting to know whether actually verifying your identity online affects the assessment period to which you will receive UC? For example if I do my claim all in one day and submit it, does the online verification have to be completed alongside this for the whole UC application to be completed or is this separate from this?
Any help with this would greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Ben

Hi Leo
Your UC Assessment Period starts on the day you hit the " submit " button on the form regardless of ID verification.
I have just done the ID verification for 2 clients ( my other job ) and both times it went automatically to " We will phone you ". So you just have to follow the steps and see that happens. You cannot use an expired passport for online verification but it is accepted at the Jobcentre as long as the photo is recognisable. Though you can use a provisional driving licence if you haven't passed a driving test.

Hello Leo
I had to do this as part of my MMUC.
I opted for 'credit reference' and it was straightforward. IIRC, they say you have to get 3 questions right out of 5 or so.
It was multiple choice.
Question 1 was, 'Have you bought goods from a shopping catalogue?' and the answers varied from something like 'last week' or 'regularly' to 'never, or not in the last 6 years'.
For another question, I had to choose which one of 5 addresses I had previously lived at.
Hope this helps you and anyone else on their MMUC journey
