We are a mixed age couple and about to submit the UC form, forced migration.
I am on the state pension and my wife is in ESA support group, we have no other income.
Should we put something in the journal to make sure they don't start making her do job search etc?
Also I am at the moment covered for dental care under her ESA will this continue when we are on UC?
Also we have a 2 bedroom council house and don't pay bedroom tax under HB because my wife has a hospital bed and not enough room for two beds with all her equipment and wheelchair access from through floor lift to her bed are.
Will UC migration change the bedroom tax exemption?
As she is in the Support Group she cannot be made to look for work or sanctioned.
I cannot predict the decision on the bedroom tax. Hopefully it will be the same as Housing Benefit.
The rules on free prescriptions are made by the NHS and are as follows regarding Universal Credit.... "While you're waiting on your Universal Credit decision - Until your first assessment period is complete, Universal Credit doesn't entitle you to help with NHS costs. If you need to pay for any NHS charges, for example, prescriptions or dental treatment, make sure you get a receipt and ask how you can claim a refund. If you pay for a prescription, ask for a refund receipt called an FP57 when you pay - you can't get one later."
