Phone call was created by Taz60
Hello, I’m helping my sister with her uc migration from ir esa and support group.
She’s doing the migration via landline as she doesn’t use internet or smart phone.
We phoned on Monday 12th May and created her account and the lady said my sister would get a phone call in 2 to 3 days. My sister hasn’t received any phone call yet and it’s been over a week.
Is this normal and what would the phone call be about.
Thankyou.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Taz60
They are overwhelmed with the number of calls they have to make. I can't tell you exactly what they might be phoning for but it may be to confirm your sister's identity.

Hello, further on from my previous question. In the end after waiting for the phone call I decided to ring uc and find out why my sister hadn’t received the phone call they told her she would get in 2 to 3 days from our initial call to them.
That was today 21/5/2025, I spoke to lovely lady who informed my sister that she had an appointment booked for 3pm on 22/5/2025 at the job centre for identification purpose.
I was dumbfounded and told her we knew nothing about it and why wasn’t she given more notice about this appointment.
Turns out an automatic sms was sent, but as I explained many times Sarah uses her landline and so cannot receive any form of messages.
I am just so pleased that I decided to ring them today because my sister would not have known about this appointment and missed it.
I made sure that in future they either phone my sister on her landline or sent a written letter.
We will be attending the appointment tomorrow and hopefully all will go well.

Hi Taz60
Good for you for following it up. I really hope that it goes well for your sister. She's lucky to have you as her support.

Pleased to say my sisters job centre interview went well. She provided all the necessary ID documents, passport, bank card and council tax proof. All was accepted. Her 1st UC payment is on 18 June. I’m hoping she’ll get a letter confirming the amount and date due as she doesn’t use internet. I forgot to ask about that.
Also does she need to inform the council about her housing benefit as I assume this will stop when her ESA stops. If so should she tell them now or wait til she receives her 1st UC payment.
