Migrating my cb + ir ESA + hb to UC was created by mikmikmik
I’ve got quite a few things going on in my claim. Including CB element, bedroom tax exemption, disregarded savings, transitional protection etc and it’s proving difficult to get correct.
Do you have a name for me to put in journal for the seo for Gloucestershire for UC, as a complaint please.
Many thanks

Hi mikmikmik

So type out your complaint in the UC Journal for the attention of Mike Page District Manager. When you have typed out the complaint in your UC Journal, from the drop down list choose Work Coach. Then you can copy and paste the same message and this time from the drop down list choose the option " A Payment ". It is important to send the complaint twice as they have been known to get lost in the DWP pipework.
Let me know how you get on.

David

Hi David
I followed your advice exactly, hopefully Will get a result shortly.
My first Uc payments all gone wrong, they forgot to add the premiums and lcw I had in esa. So the transitional relief is also wrong, missing about £450.
What got me, was I spoke to someone in payments at UC , and they told me ‘ I wish citizens advice wouldn’t give all this advice, all they do is work people up. We are very experienced and have access to the esa payments screen.’
Well she can say what she likes, as long as they get it right, but her attitude didn’t age well, as it all went wrong!
I wrote in and they replied

You are quite correct in your observations and calculations.
Unfortunately the Transitional Protection can't successfully be calculated until the LCW / LCWRA decision has been pulled over from ESA.
Due to the sheer amount of ESA claimant's being migrated to Universal Credit, the team which deal with processing this part of your claim and bringing the decision over are a little bit behind. I can escalate it to that specific team to try and prioritise but I'm not sure how much good it will do, or whether it will be actioned any faster.
Once they have successfully pulled all your details from ESA, your award will be calculated to include your LCW / LCWRA and any transitional protection you are due.
Once we have an update for you, we will let you know, we can only apologise for the inconvenience this has caused thus far.
If you have any more concerns, please send a journal and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

I thanked this individual but it just goes to show, what you say, the whole thing is being totally rushed !

Hi mikmikmik

I am glad that your message to Mike Page generated a response. The rush to get Migration completed before Xmas this year instead of the end of 2028 has led to backlogs and general mistakes.
Thanks for your updates.

Well today I thought i better formalise this with time ticking, with a proper request for mandatory reconsideration and complaint, as it’s dragging.
I got a quick reply telling me I cant make a mandatory reconsideration as they know these claims are wrong caused by a backlog, and hope to fix them.
I’m sure they make this stuff up. I think what they are saying is that it’s a mass bungle, they don’t want their stats looking bad! I really didn’t know they could refuse a mandatory reconsideration after a decision.
I’m really not happy about the fact, that they are knowingly sending out statements / payments that they know are wrong. There’s one thing making an error, but sending out stuff knowing it’s wrong, I’m not sure would be so readily accepted from a claimant!
That the cohort most affected are the most disabled people, and far from reasonable adjustment, seem to be treated less favourably, as it’s the premiums that are affected.
That the transitional protection promise supposedly means you do not suffer loss in cash terms at the point of migration, whatever the reason.
Years ago, when it was the DHSS (1980’s), I remember I had a query, the manager came down to see me, with about 4 giant rule books, the size of 5 telephone directories each, waded through the rules and procedures, moaning that I was indeed right, and reluctantly issuing it me with a giro, having kept me waiting most of the day! But at least you got to see the decision maker and put your case!
