ESA to UC Migration - Attending Jobcentre was created by DaveySmith
HI

Last week I completed my online forms to migrate from ESA to UC and that all went through fine. I was then asked to verify my identity which i did online. Following this I was informed that I had not provided sufficient information and that someone would phone me within 3 days to confirm my identity.

As I am in the ESA Support Group I went into my journal and informed them of this and that I would like to organise a time for someone to call so that I could organise someone to be with me to support me.

I then got a notification in my journal that an appointment had been organised for me to attend the local Jobcentre to provide this in person.

I got back to them to inform them that the notice was too short for me to have someone with me to attend and that as I was in the ESA Support Group I didn't think I would have to attend and that I wouldn't make that appointment.

They got back in touch with me after the date of the appointment to tell me that I did have to attend and that I now had to fill in a failure to attend form and rebook a time to go in.

Can someone please advise if this process is correct and what I should do now?

Thanks!

Hi DaveySmith

A Failure to Attend form is a Sanction form. This doesn't apply to you at all as you are in the Support Group.
I think you will need to complain to your DWP area manager. If you tell me the City/County you reside I can find the correct manager to complain via your UC Journal.
