Already in the process was created by Kim
Last time I applied for ppi I was awarded it for 5 years, that was after it being stopped, I started an appeal ended up taking an over dose.
So a few weeks ago I was sent a letter saying I had to fill in an online form for UC.
I did it and then was told I'd get a phone call in the next 3 days. I still haven't received a call.
Like many disabled people I'm extremely stressed, I'm worried if my benifits are stopped or reduced I won't be able to pay for my care. I give all my pip to my local council to pay for direct payments, if my benifits change so will my care plan.
Should I call them and ask what is happening or should I just leave it?
My award wasn't due until July or August, will they wait to call me then?
We are stumbling along not knowing what is happening and how changes w up ll effect me. I am over whelmed with it all.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Kim
I'm sorry to hear that you are so overwhelmed. I always think if you can manage it - it's better to try and ring to find out what is happening rather than worrying about not knowing.

I have been told I need a face to face to confirm I am who I say I am, they asked me to go to a job centre but I requested a home visit. I asked why they needed to do this and they said its because of fraud. It seems very strange, obviously I gave them all the security ect over the phone.
Is this normal? I am going from esa (not able to work) to UC
Is this normal? Am I being to misstrusting? One of my carers will be here when they come, I just don't want any nasty surprises
Thank you
Kim

Hi Kim
Yes it is normal, they will also ask you to sign a claimant commitment.
The conditions for claiming Universal Credit are set out in a "claimant commitment" that most people will have to accept at the beginning of their claim. If you are part of a couple, you will each have a separate claimant commitment that may be different from each other's.
People who may not need to accept a commitment include those who lack capacity, those who have exceptional circumstances where it would be unreasonable to expect them to agree a commitment (this is decided by the work coach on a case by case basis), or, From 15 February 2022 people with a terminal illness and less than 6 months to live were also excluded, and from 4 April 2023 this was extended to 12 months. There are 4 conditionality groups:
* Group 1. No work related requirements
* Group 2. Work-focused interview requirement
* Group 3. Work preparation requirement
* Group 4. All work-related requirements

Hi Kim
Not a problem, if you have a question, ask, remember there is no such thing as a silly question.
