Wanting to Work with LCWRA was created by Lees80
Hi all, I would appreciate any help whatsoever with my current circumstances.
I suffer with anxiety and depression. I've not worked since 2010 due to this. 3 years ago, my marriage ended and I had to move in with my folks. I have a child, who lives with their mother, but I want to be more involved. I get PIP Daily Living at Enhanced Rate and LCWRA.
Because I fought the council for 2 years and got nowhere on medical grounds - (they claim I'm adequately housed) I can't afford to get my own place as the benefits I'm on won't cover rent, bills and such.
So, I want to try my hand at going back to work in a part time, limited hours job.
The job centre were useless and pointed me in the direction of doing a course from home, to find something where I can work from home, doing like a data entry job.
I'm not good at concentrating for long periods (which is why I need a job with a max shift of 4hrs) but I'm worried that if I start applying for jobs and in the event I am successful the DWP will say I'm no longer anxious around people and I'm working, so they'll take my LCWRA off of me. I feel trapped as I can't manage many hours due to poor concentration and anxiety, but I can't afford to lose my benefit, as I would lose too much a month and not be able to survive.
I would be very appreciative of any support or advice if anyone has any to offer.
Take care everyone.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Lees80
Because you have LCWRA status you don't have your own Work Coach and tend to be overlooked in rehabilitation towards employment. You need to ask to see a Jobcentre DEA (Disability Employment Adviser ). You can make the request through your UC Journal. Send your message twice firstly under the heading Service Issue and secondly under Message to Work Coach. If it is ignored then I will try and find a manager to complain to.
Hope this helps.

Thank You, David.
The "service issue" option has been removed, so I can only send it to the work coach for now.
I greatly appreciate your help and advice.
Take care and thank you again

Hi Lees80
Thanks for mentioning that. I have checked and other people have noticed that UC have removed the Service Issue option.

Strange. I spoke to a contact on journal and they have given me a number to call and request a DEA tomorrow morning.
Thank you so much. I had no idea a DEA was a thing. Nobody from UC told me that. They got me an appointment with a standard work coach and he never recommended contacting a DEA, perhaps he didn't know they existed? It's hard enough as it is trying to find someone to help who understands the limitations we face.
Thanks again, David. So much appreciated.
