Hi guys following on from a disastrous telephone assessment for PIP review after 7 on previous PIP term the review took place the claimant who has physical mobility problems and mental health problems and fibromyalgia.

The assessment was terminated after 1 hour 40 minutes because claimant couldn't think straight confused and found most questions difficult to answer correctly and was totally overwhelmed and on the brink of a full blown panic attack, After 48 hours DWP was contacted to ask if they had any confirmation of the terminated assessment but no they hadn't so next call to health assessment company they was helpful looking into it and said another assessment has been booked.

Yesterday a text message comes and explained they are going to try to complete by paper based assessment and said they will contact GP or who supports the claimant

Dose this sound like a normal situation ? Do they contact the GP in most cases ? The GP dose support the claimant for the mental health and long term pain management for the physical problems , we know with all what the government it's trying to do but long term sick being put through so much stress just on a review after 7 years only puts more stress on the services who support the long term disabled, Just a bit of reassurance if anyone can reading this thank you Elgran

Hi Elgrand

When they terminate an assessment for a reason such as the claimant being overwhelmed, yes it is common for them to contact the GP or another health professional for verification purposes. I see it as a positive that they are not trying to put the claimant through another telephone assessment and yet they are trying to gather as much information as possible before making a decision. I can't say what will happen, but in my experience supporting people in similar circumstances, the outcome is normally positive.
