ESA to UC bedroom tax was created by Eleanor_Rigby
I received my migration letter in November and my ESA ends on the 8th of February so I’m probably cutting it fine!

I’ve filled out my UC to do list (no help, apart from guides on here) but I’m confused about the rent question.

It asks if I have housing costs, and I selected ‘yes’ as I pay bedroom tax monthly for one extra bedroom. Then it asks for the total rent. Does that mean for the year or month? Bedroom tax isn’t mentioned and I don’t want to say I pay all of the rent. Really confused.

Really don’t want to phone citizens advice as I find making calls stressful and I’m aware time is running out.

I’m Autistic and have severe social anxiety too.

Replied by David on topic ESA to UC bedroom tax
Hi Eleanor_Rigby

The so called Bedroom Tax has an official name of the Spare Room Subsidy. It is only paid by the tenants of Social Landlords. Your Social Landlord may have a Financial Inclusion officer who could assist you in this matter. Hopefully you can contact them online or by email.

Let me know how you get on.
