Verifying ID online and Claimant Commitment

Just to clarify, are you able to confirm your identity online after making your UC claim without having to attend a job centre; or are people asked to attend a job centre to sign a claimant commitment regardless? I have read different things on this in the guides and people’s individual experiences in the forum.

Hi Oni,

There are too many different factors involved to give you an accurate reply. Some people are able to do a verification through Experian whilst others use their passports and driving licences. However I have found out that if your passport is even a day out of date you will need to take it to the Jobcentre if you are using it. As the online facility only accepts currently valid passports.

Let me know how you get on.
