Mobilty Question

Mobilty Question was created by BigTam
Scored 10 points under question 1(e) in Mobility planning and following journeys cannot undertake any journeys descriptor with the acceptance being that "for the majority of the time I am unable to go out"

Couple of questions around that if I wanted to challenge it, does the (f) descriptor mean on foot or could it be in a car for following the route of a familiar journey? And if any such journey were only to happen several times a year at the very most.

Thinking is that the MH judgement should/could have applied.

The concern is a challenge could result in the loss of the standard rate mobility.

Hi BigTam

It doesn't matter whether the journey was on foot or in a car - it wouldn't make a difference. If you got 1e and you never go out, then you can't get one 1f, but it seems they accept that you would go out very, very occasionally. Do you need any aids or appliances to help you move to 1f?

Yes, there is always a risk if you get them to look at it again, but plenty of people do.

Yes in the "decision markers reasoning" they said "you are unable to go out for the majority of the time" so that would say to me they accepted I could go out, albeit not often.

No aids required to go out but any trips out on foot would not be able to be undertaken alone, for mental health reasons, and as such any said trips are unlikely to happen than a handful of times in any given year (maybe why they scored 1e?)

When it was relooked at for the MH judgement it was "no change" to award, but now it is up for renewal I am considering asking for it to be reconsidered, but there isn't really a change of circumstances, as such.

And then the fear of losing the exisitng award is great.

Could I just clarify if a journey could be undertaken alone, in a car, then 1f would not apply?

Hi BigTam

. 1f. Cannot follow the route of a familiar journey without another person, an assistance dog or an orientation aid. 12 points.
If you're travelling in a car alone, (the majority of the time) I would not expect 1f to apply.
