New Style ESA/CA was created by Geejay
Good morning

I have had to apply for New style ESA which has just been accepted. Does this effect my CA award? I’m hoping to return to work and did not claim initially as I had some emergency savings (self employed) so made an application when my savings had run out😞.

I really do not want to confuse things (I do find understanding benefits entitlements confusing🤦🏽‍♀️) and wondering if I should just remain in receipt of CA if my new style ESA has a knock on effect on it? I am also just finalising my PIP application.

Hi GeeJay

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.

Ns ESA and CA are classed as overlapping benefits, you are normally paid the one that is worth the most, with NS ESA if you are placed in the support group then it is paid indefinitely until you are next re-assessed.

PIP is seperate and does not come into the equation, depending on your circumstances.

We always advise to seek help from your local welfare Rights Organisation, they will be able to take all your circumstances into consideration; advicelocal.uk .
