I receive higher rate care componant, no mobility componant. I will be at state retirement age in November this year. In recent months I have had increasing difficulty walking due to a diagnosed moderate arthritic hip. I have been presribed pain kilers which dont make much of a difference. A blue badge for parking would be very helpful. Should I apply for Mobility componant as I feel there is a chance of success. But will DWP look at all my whole claim again? I dont really need the £££ involvedIts a very stressful process as you know as I was successful with my renewal only six months ago with a 10 year award. Would it be more beneficial to just apply to my Local Authority and do you have any tips on this Thanks in anticipation PS my name might be Biker Dave but I can no longer sit on my Bike!!!

You cannot be awarded the Mobility component if not already in payment once you reach State Retirement Age, even if you meet the criteria for an award.

You can notify the DWP of a Change of Circumstances before SRA and be awarded Mobility even if the Decision is made after but be aware, that this will result in a new PIP2 to complete and almost certainly an assessment of some form. Your whole award will be reviewed, Daily Living as well as Mobility.

I get a blue badge and I do not even own a car. I am on D.L.A. I only get low mobility. Like you I recieve high care I am 76. My GP fills helps by writing a letter and I get the blue badge through my local authority.
I hope that this is useful.
