molliesmum1962 wrote: Hello, I joined this site a little while ago. I have had my ESA letter back and I have not worked since 1995, through ill health. They have placed me in the work related activity group. I wasn't going to appeal it, but I have decided that I am going to. I have no idea of how to appeal and what I need to write to them a letter of appeal. This is really worrying me, and I think that if it gets sorted one way or another then I may start to have better days Any help will be appreciated. Kindest regards
From your previous posts it has been at least five weeks since you received the letter notifying you that you are in the WRAG, so you are outside of the normal period to make an appeal, however, you can make a Late Appeal, but you will need to provide Good Cause why it is late.
To be placed in the Support Group you will need to meet one or more of the criteria
Qualifying for the Support Group
I would start by reading our ESA Appeal Guide and then have a look at our ESA Claim guides
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa
and then have a look at the following FAQs
Is there any risk to challenging a decision?
How long do I have to appeal?
How to submit an appeal
ESA medical – what forms to ask for?
Disability Rights UK Factsheet - Appeals and reconsiderations
Preparing for a Tribunal
MOJ Video of ESA Appeals Process and Tribunal
If you have any specific questions, then please reply to this post and we will try our best to help you.

Just to add that "Good Cause" for a late appeal can be that you did not fully understand the ESA "groupings", i.e. there are two ESA groups WRAG and SG, and the full implications of being placed into The WRAG.
