Tribunals miles from where you live?

I've just read on a facebook group page that some people are being told to attend their tribunals at almost the other end of the country. An example quoted was that the person lives in London but was told to attend his tribunal in Cornwall. Have you heard of this happening to anyone? Is it true?
Maybe a new ploy to stop people attending in person....

If I remember correctly you can write on the form to the tribunal that you do not want to travel to another area. However, I'm sure there was something on the letter I received from tribunals service along the lines that other venues are being used therefore the appeal might not be heard at the Court & Tribunal building. I don't know if that means you could be send anywhere.

I have seen a couple of examples where the distance has been extreme, in all cases this was because there were special circumstances surrounding the case.
Tribunal should be arranged at the nearest venue, however, it may be moved to another, but close venue to ensure that it is heard at the earliest opportunity, the following has a list of venues.
